Luigi Coletta is a coach. He wants to expose to his students to the diverse options available.
Mike Pinnington is with Sunset Divers. He’s hoping giving those students a chance to get certified, will get them hooked not only on Cayman’s underwater world for pleasure, but also on it as a career path..
“They are tomorrow’s business owners, they are tomorrow’s dive companies, so hopefully we can inspire them to actually move into the industry and see this as a career down the road.”

The students from Hope Academy didn’t have an easy time of it – becoming a certified diver is a lot of work, but the pay-off is evident.
In the words of Beha Hansson, “Being under water is like flying.. you feel like superman for a while”
Jessica Leggett agrees, “It’s a beautiful thing,” she says. “You get to explore amazing wildlife. You get to explore boats that have been shipped wrecked and everything. It’s an amazing opportunity.”
Congratulations to our April 2019 Cayman First Classroom of the Month – the newly certified teenage divers from Hope Academy – and a special thanks to Sunset Divers for providing their training for free.
“In order to encourage the Cayman youth, we need to provide something for them, we need to try and inspire them and promote the asset that they have and that asset is an incredible underwater world. ”
