(GIS) – The Law Enforcement and Public Safety Recruitment Fair 2017 welcomed job seekers on Thursday, 9 November 2017 at the George Town, Town Hall.
The successful drive was co-hosted by Her Majesty’s Cayman Islands Prison Service, Cayman Islands Fire Service, Department of Immigration, Department of Labour and Pensions, Department of Public Safety Communications, the Cayman Islands Customs Department and the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service.
During the event interested persons were able to speak with representatives from each department and learn more about the variety of career options available.
The departments also performed demonstrations throughout the day, and showcased the skills that it takes to serve their agency.
Premier and Minister for Human Resources and Immigration, Hon. Alden McLaughlin, said: “The recruitment fair was a significant event because it engaged job seekers in dialogue about law enforcement and public safety careers,” he said. “It also helped raise the profile of the departments and the dedicated professionals that work within those agencies.”
Minster for Financial Services and Home Affairs, Hon. Tara Rivers, said she was very pleased with the turnout.
“I applaud the agencies and their representatives for hosting the event and encouraging interested persons to answer the call to serve their country,” she remarked. “The interaction and demonstrations gave job seekers a real glimpse of the exciting careers available and what the various roles entail.”
Minister for Finance and Economic Development, Hon. Roy McTaggart, said: “The public’s response was also a significant factor in the success of the fair since it gave the attendees a chance to promote skills and talents directly to recruiters. The event was also a great networking opportunity for everyone involved and a way to strengthen relationships with the community.”
